We began in the Spring of 2006, with a simple goal:  A few men gathering to sing songs of faith and everyday life.  We chose the name Sonnenberg Station because it gives a unique local identity and we like the sound of it.  Sonnenberg Station is actually located at a railroad crossing about a mile northeast of the Sonnenberg Mennonite and Salem Mennonite Churches near Kidron, Ohio. For more info about the origin of the name, check out the About Us page.

Our Fall 2011 press release (as of 10/19/11):

Sonnenberg Station Performs on October 23, 24, November 3, 5, & 6

The men's ensemble, Sonnenberg Station, will soon be presenting their fall season concerts. Consisting of 15 men, they are now in their sixth year of music making, having performed in nearly thirty different venues. Last year they were a featured guest of the Summit Choral Society's fall season and the Frohliche Dorf show held in Kidron. This year's theme is singing: powerful and primal, delicate and divine. Aiming to not only preserve a beautiful tradition, but to promote a healthy musical life in our community, one can expect to hear the classical and the acappella tradition alongside new songs that have never been performed publicly.

Directing the ensemble is Tim Shue. Kevin Himes serves as accompanist. Other members include Winfred Ressler, Matt Yost, Brandon Newcomer, Chuck Merkle, Paul Dunn, Gideon Dunster, Arlen Overholt, Chris Chamberlin, Bill Seymour, Travis Pauli, Ellis Miller, Nate Gundy and Toby Hazlett.

Area concerts are October 23, 7:00pm at the Central Christian School auditorium in a joint concert with baritone Tony Brown. On Thursday, November 3 at 7:00pm they will sing at Salem Mennonite Church in Kidron. Lehman's of Kidron will host the men on Saturday, November 5 at 11:00am in the Cast Iron Café followed by a Sunday, November 6, 7:00pm concert at the Wooster First Presbyterian Church. On November 10 at 12:05pm they will perform for the St. James Episcopal Brown Bag lunch concert series and that same evening at 7:30 at the P.Graham Dunn gallery in Dalton as part of a Christmas open house event.

A freewill offering will be taken to cover operating expenses.
